How to set up a Working Group

The Working Groups are an important means to achieve the goals of MACSI-net. Below we give an overview of various aspects related to establishing and running a Working Group (WG).

1. A WG is focussing on a theme that is relevant for MACSI-net. It can be application oriented (vertical structure) or method based (horizontal structure).
2. A proposal to found a WG can be sent in any time to the co-ordinator. The decision about admittance is taken by the Executive Committee.
3. A WG proposal should address at least the following points:
a. It should identify a proper theme
b. It identifies a group of experts. These experts may be indicated as "members" of this WG.
c. There is a clear participation by/interest from industry
d. There is a list of potential activities ("events").
e. There is a moderator (name and address), who is responsible for reporting.
4. For the running of activities it is recommended to have a webpage, which will be linked to MACSI-net mainpage.
5. The WG will organise meetings, workshops etc, to be called "events" which are eligible for funding by MACSI-net. For the time being the maximum reimbursement per event is
Euro 6000. For each event a proposal has to be submitted to the co-ordinator up for approval by the executive committee)
6. For an event payments can only be made to an organising institution that is an institutional member of MACSI-net (i.e. which has signed a membership agreement).
7. For preparing a subsidy proposal, see ‘How to prepare an event ’.

There is substantial support for electronic services. So if you have ideas or wishes about services which support your WG activities, such as an electronic forum, please contact the MACSI-net organization through Paul de Haas, p.c.a.d.haas@tue.nl.
